Meridian High School teacher, Ernest Smith, has been suspended by the district, pending the outcome of a felony charge against him.
Smith, 75, faces a possession of a firearm on educational property charge, filed by Mississippi State-Meridian campus.
Smith allegedly fired a handgun into the ground Sept. 2 after he followed several juveniles onto the property.
The case will be presented to the November grand jury.
Two of the juveniles have already been to youth court for malicious mischief, for allegedly throwing a rock at Smith's car.
