AL Prepared for Fourth

Alabama officials are encouraging residents to take heed to anything that seems out of the ordinary during the Fourth of July holiday. Gov. Don Siegelman and Brigadier General Mike Sumerall say there will be some flight restrictions in various locations, but there are no specific threats.

"Look at the things the terrorists used in the middle east and anticipate that those same type of mechanisms could be used in our country," said Sumerall, Leader of the National Guard and Homeland Security for the state. "So if you see something out of the ordinary notify the authorities and then take whatever necessary precautions you can to protect yourself until you're sure it's not a terrorist accident."

As expected, Alabama state troopers will serve as visible reminders during the extended holiday period focusing on apprehending drunken drivers.
