Newton county sheriff Jackie Knight says James Stroud is facing charges in the incident. It happened just before 9 o'clock last night at Stroud’s house on Riser Creek Road outside Newton.

According to the sheriff the two had been arguing. Investigators say alcohol was possibly involved. According to sheriff knight the victim was Steve Herd and his injuries were not life threatening. The sheriff says Stroud is now possibly facing charges for aggravated assault.
