The Mississippi Department of Transportation says an improvement project will soon begin on Highway 45, between the Kemper/Noxubee County Line and Brooksville.

MDOT said the project was awarded to Superior Asphalt, Inc., of Jackson. Stimulus funding of $12.3 million will be used to pay for it.

Crews will be working on 22 miles of U.S. Highway 45, which will include overlay of the northbound and southbound lanes, new pavement markings and other improvements.

This project is expected to be completed on or before July 10.

MDOT advises motorists to use extra caution when traveling through construction work zones, slow down and obey the posted speed limit.
