Court officials in Mississippi's capital city collected about $130,000 in overdue fines during a two-day amnesty event.
But police are now warning motorists that patrol officers will focus their efforts to arrest violators who didn't pay up last Thursday and Friday.
The amnesty period allowed those with past-due misdemeanor fines and traffic tickets to pay their debts and avoid jail time.
Judge Gail Lowery called the program a success. When the amnesty was announced earlier this month, the court had about 50,000 warrants for traffic violations totaling $17 million in fines owed the city.
