A one-vehicle accident occurred Thursday night just before 8 p.m in the 11,000 block of Newton County-Martin Road, near Wildcat Road.

Martin and Collinsville volunteer firefighters responded along with deputies from Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department.

When responders arrived, they found a male victim alive inside the car. The victim was transported by Metro Ambulance to the hospital where authorities say he should recover.

The car caught fire after leaving the road and striking some trees. The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
