A WorldCom stockholder filed a lawsuit and request for class-action status against the foundering telecommunications company Friday.

The suit filed in U.S. District Court in Jackson lists as defendants WorldCom, two of its former executives and its accounting firm.

Suit claims fraud and gross negligence and seeks unspecified damages. The only named plaintiff in the suit is James T. Shotts. No address was given for Shotts.

The suit was filed by Pascagoula attorney Michael L. Fondren. He could not be reached for comment. Former chief executive officer Bernard Ebbers and former chief financial officer Scott Sullivan are the two individiuals listed as defendants.

WorldCom revealed last month that it had improperly accounted for nearly $4 billion in expenses.
