The Salvation Army has kicked off its annual angel tree adoption program.
The information needed is available at shopping venues in Meridian, including Bonita Lakes Mall.
Through the "adoptions", individuals may provide clothing, shoes and toys for a needy youngster in the area.
"We have not quite a thousand children from the ages of birth to 13 years and about 800 families. And we're trying to make sure that each child gets at least two toys and the families get a basket of food for the Christmas dinner," said Maj. Susan McClure, commander of the Salvation Army in Meridian. The deadline for getting unwrapped gifts back to the Salvation Army is Friday, Dec. 19.
The Salvation Army's red kettle campaign begins Friday. McClure says your spare change contributed in this way makes a big difference to needy families
