Several local agencies Sunday responded to a four car accident near the I-20/59 Split in Meridian. It took several hours for the scene to be cleared.
The traffic never completely stopped. Lost Gap Volunteer Firemen made their way to the scene within minutes to begin opening lanes. Representatives with the Mississippi Highway patrol say there were actually two wrecks. Each wreck involved two cars.
The first wreck involved an eighteen wheeler that ran into a stalled car in the middle of the interstate. The subsequent wreck took place within minutes of the first, but was said to be minor.
There were no injuries. No one was transported to the hospital.
