The first day of school for students who attend Meridian Public Schools is Aug. 8. With this in mind school administrators are reminding parents about the importance of pre-registration.

"If they are registered they can come to school on the first day which is Aug. 8. There won't be any problems. They will have their schedules and can move into a classroom. It makes it easier for the child," said Sylvia Autry, MPS Assistant Superintendent.

Registration for elementary schools will be held July 24. Upper level registration will happen on July 22. The times and dates vary for each school.
