Sumter County Schools: Child Poverty High

The latest census report in Alabama shows that Sumter county schools are fourth in the state in regards to the percentage of children living below the poverty level.

32.6 percent of children in Sumter County live below the poverty level.

Perry County has the highest percentage in the state with 35.1 %.

Vestivia Hills City Schools had the lowest percentage 1.5%.

A family of four is considered below poverty if they bring less than $17,000 a year.
