Average retail gasoline prices in Mississippi, and nationwide, are at their lowest level since early June.
But prices aren't expected to fall much further this winter and they're still higher than last year's gas prices. The reason prices are expected to level off is that demand is expected to increase while inventories are expected to tighten.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Mississippi Tuesday is about $1.40. That's down a little more than one cent from pump prices a month ago, according to the AAA Auto Club.
Last year, a gallon of gas sold for just over $1.36 a gallon.
