Newell Found Guilty Again in Comcast Fraud

Former Vice President of Trustmark National Bank in Meridian, C.D. Bubba Newell, was convicted in U.S. District Court on numerous counts of fraud in connection with a charge of conspiring to defraud Comcast in the mid 1990's.

Newell was convicted in 2001 of the same charges, but won an appeal which granted him a second trail.

The new trial, which ended Friday night, convicted Newell again on all accounts including money laundering and tax evasion. He was sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison.

Newell along with four other Meridian business people allegedly defrauded Comcast out of $2.8 million between 1993 ad 1994.
