Willie Otis James, 32, from Boligee, Ala., has received three life sentences for breaking into homes in Sumter County.
The crimes occurred over a three-year period.
"He was alone. Every case he went to he was alone and we would get closer and closer to him until we finally tracked him down on the last case when he assaulted the female. She was able to identify him and we had another eyewitness," said Sheriff Johnny Hatter.
Hatter said James would break into homes while residents were sleeping and steal things such as cellphones and car keys.
