Blood supplies for area hospitals, including emergency surgeries, are in short supply.
Pints of blood have had to be imported from the corporate offices of United Blood Services in Scottsdale, Arizona.
UBS officials say they have less than a day's supply of blood on hand.
"It would only take one aneurysm patient needing help, one surgery becoming more complicated, one birth delivery becoming more complicated to wipe out the entire back up systems here," said Susan Morris. "So it's really critical."
United Blood Services provides blood to 76 hospitals.
