Holiday Shopping

Billie Price got some extra Christmas money, "I am out to hit the sales and get some wonderful bargains, " said Price.

Price wasn't alone; stores across the area posted holiday sale signs and hosted door buster bargains. The holiday shopping season, which actually began the day after Thanksgiving has been less lucrative than retailers, expected. In fact, experts are calling it average.

Shoppers also made early trips to the stores for exchanges. J.C. Penny Manager Larry Payne encourages patrons to remember their receipt and or bring the original tags from the item.

"It will make the process easier," said Price.

Also remember that some stores only give store credit rather than cash in return for items.

Price says sales will last well through the New Year, which is good news for shoppers and good news for retailers. Especially those who have struggled during this unusually average holiday shopping season.
