The Polymer Science Department at the University of Southern Mississippi is receiving a special grant to continue its technology development.
University President Dr. Shelby Thames said the department was approved for a more than $10 million grant from the national science foundation.
USM recently developed an environmentally-safe brand of paint, which is also odorless. The product is now being used at the pentagon.
"This is not a cheap and low performance product," said Dr. Thames. "It's a high performance product although the cost is comparable with that of other products on the market."
The paint is being distributed through Southern Diversified Products of Hattiesburg.
