Lewis-Payton: "Medicaid Beneficial"

Mississippi's director of Medicaid visited the Lauderdale County office Wednesday.

Funding for Medicaid has been a problem confronted by lawmakers this year, but Rica Lewis-Payton says she believes the direct cost to the state is necessary.

"If you have the opportunity as we do in the state of Mississippi to get 75 cents for every quarter invested in health care, then that's a program that is worthy of adequate funding," said Lewis-Payton.

The director says 25 percent of Mississippi's population qualifies and is covered by Medicaid.
