Tuesday morning the owner of a house on 28th Avenue was spotted burning the abandoned structure. However, the fire was put out after officials from the fire department reminded the owner about the city's burning ordinance.
"Residents must remember that just because you pay the $40 for the commercial permit or the $5 for the residential, the first call we get of someone complaining, it voids your permit and you're asked to extinguish the fire," Jimmy Hoffer who is the spokesman for the Meridian Fire Department.
