Smith Elected to MAS Leadership

Lauderdale County Supervisor Jimmie Smith has been elected third vice president of the Mississippi Association of Supervisors.

It means that Smith, who is in his fourth term, is on track to be president of the organization in three years.

"We have issues that we collectively pursue, getting legislation passed to help our respective communities or counties," said Smith. "We talk about issues that have significant impact on local government. We look at things that are going to enhance the quality of life throughout the state of Mississippi."

Smith confirmed Friday he is running for re-election next year.
