MPS Names Teacher of Year

The Meridian public school district's Teacher of the Year is Nelda Davidson, a marketing management instructor at Ross Collins Career and Technical Center.

All of Davidson's 23 years in education has been in Meridian. She says she just loves teaching.

"I think searching for that way or that method that you're going to use and then seeing a student or young person actually follow through and do what's asked, that's what is so neat about it. Actually following through and seeing that creative side that maybe a student thought he or she didn't have, but then actually finishing up a project and being so proud of what they've done," said Davidson.

Part of what Davidson teaches is preparing students for the workplace, including dressing for job interviews.

This marks the first time a Ross Collins instructor has been named Teacher of the Year.
