Officials are investigating a fire that killed a Lauderdale County man and destroyed his mobile home. Vick Hearn died Sunday in the early morning blaze.
Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said Hearn's body has been sent to the Mississippi Mortuary in Pearl for an autopsy. It appears the 40-year-old man died of smoke inhalation.
Investigators say a boiler pot may have caused the fire, but the probe is still in the preliminary stages. The home on Butts Road in Toomsuba had no utilities.
