The body of a white male was found in a wooded area behind Sack and Save at North Frontage Road and 18th Avenue late Wednesday morning.
Meridian police say the man's identity is known, he is a Meridian resident, but officials were not immediately able to notify next of kin, so his name has not been released.
"(There) didn't appear to be any visible signs of trauma or anything of that nature," said Chief Benny Dubose of the Meridian Police Department. "We will have an autopsy performed tomorrow at 4:00 in Jackson to give us further information. Right now it appears it may have been natural causes, but until we get the results back we won't know for sure."
Chief Dubose said he hopes to have preliminary results no later than Friday.
