Some changes are underway in Quitman. Some of those changes are a part of the "First Impressions" program with Mississippi State University.
I will take you to what is said to be Quitman's oldest building, constructed in 1905. The Kirkland Building has been a hardware store, a grocery store, and a used furniture store, but what does the future hold for it?
I will also take you into the Clarke County Courthouse and show you what has been done to restore the inside to its original appearance.
There's even a splash down at Clarkco State Park in the works.
"It's my hometown for many generations," said Sissy Williams of the Quitman Beautification Committee. "I have deep roots here, and it's a beautiful place. A lot of people used to say, 'it's a great place to be from', and I say 'it's a great place to live.' You can get anywhere in the world from Quitman, Mississippi."
