Band Gets a Hand for Trip

Lauderdale County supervisors have agreed to help the Meridian High School Band make a trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., for a competition there.

A request for funding was made by the school's band boosters.

"I would recommend that we make a donation of $10.00 per member. There are 131 members. That total comes to $1,310 that we would make that donation to these band members as they go and represent this area," said District 3 supervisor Craig Hitt.

The trip will cost an estimated $45,000. Band members are working to raise the rest.
