Forty-two-year-old Byron Keith Watson and 43-year-old Sandra Rushing of Meridian are charged with accepting $250 from an elderly resident and never doing the work.
Investigators are reminding residents that such acts are against the law.
"The first charge is a misdemeanor and the person can be sentenced up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. The second offense is a felony charge. Depending on the money amount, it can mean up to ten years in jail," said Lauderdale County Deputy John Calhoun.
Investigators say it's possible the two could be charged with other instances.
