Investigators declined to confirm a television station's report Friday that someone was shot outside and inside the house of a missing Yazoo County family.
WLBT-TV in Jackson cited an anonymous source investigating the case.
Warren Strain, a spokesman for the task force of investigators handling the case, told the station, "I cannot confirm or deny anything."
Signs of violence were found in and around the home of Rebecca and Michael Hargon, including blood and spent bullet casings. However, there was no indication of forced entry or robbery.
Tests were done on samples of blood found at the home.
Relatives of the Hargons, who along with their four-year-old son have been missing since Valentine's Day, have changed the locks on the doors of the family's rural home.
Strain says the locks were changed to secure the one-story house.
