Miss. Episcopalians Side with National Church

Mississippi Episcopalians rejected a proposal to condemn the consecration of a gay bishop.

The vote came Saturday at the Mississippi Diocese's annual meeting, which opened Friday in Hattiesburg.

Many members said they disagreed with the consecration of Bishop Gene Robinson from New Hampshire who is openly gay, but they did not feel the Mississippi Diocese should withhold any money from the national church or separate from the church.
