Mississippi Bases Recieve No Construction Funds

The Pentagon has determined that Mississippi military facilities will NOT receive any money for construction this year.

In his budget proposal for the 2004 fiscal year, President Bush requested $9.5 billion for military construction, but the Pentagon did not propose improvements to any Mississippi bases.

In fact, the Defense Department has asked Columbus Air Force Base to give back $700,000.

This means no improvements in the form of construction for Mississippi bases during this year for the base closure process begins in 2005.
