A meridian man went on trial in Lauderdale County circuit court Monday.
Kirby Glen Tate is accused of possession of marijuana and oxycodone.
The charges were brought after Tate was stopped by a Meridian police patrol officer last summer.
Tate has been serving time in prison on a separate drug-related conviction. He was sentenced to serve 60 years in prison after a November 2003 trial.
