Funding to help upgrade Choctaw County, Alabama's, emergency warning system has made it through the senate appropriations committee.
The only emergency warning siren the county has is in the county seat of Butler. But Choctaw County is 900 square miles.
If the measure makes it through congress, Choctaw Emergency Management wants to locate sirens in at least 10 of its population areas.
