Eighteen students preparing to graduate in August were recognized Friday at a banquet at Meridian Community College. The students are in the one-year nursing program.
"There is a nursing shortage around the country now and these nurses are LPNs or will be LPNs and they graduate in August," said Evadna Lyons. "And they have a one year intensive program and they are needed because they are the ones that give the bath, give the medicines, give the shots, and they are the bedside nurse, so they are really essential for good health care."
Many of M.C.C.'s students are currently working as nursing students in local health care facilities.
