As part of its black history celebration, Magnolia Middle School featured messages from successful African American role models.

"I think it is important to celebrate American History and to celebrate in February the achievements and contributions of African Americans in American history," said assistant principal Jonas Crenshaw, Jr.

Guest speakers included Dr. Rudolph Waters of Alcorn State University and WTOK's own Andrea Williams, who presented Maya Angelou's poem, "Still I Rise."
