A single car accident claimed the life of a 48-year-old woman late Monday morning.
The driver was traveling eastbound on interstate 20 just outside Meridian when she lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road near mile marker 129.
"When the road curved, she stayed straight and went off the left side of the highway into the median," said Sgt. Curtis Moss of the Mississippi Highway Patrol. "She over corrected and with the ground being wet, the vehicle went sideways, crossed the interstate, went off the south side and hit a tree. "
The accident is still under investigation. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.
