The decision of whether or not to adopt uniforms for Meridian Public School students will be left up to the individual schools.
A survey form was sent to parents of students in kindergarten through seventh grade.
Superintendent Sylvia Autry said the district had hoped to get at least 75 percent response from each school. However, the return rate for the entire district was 62 percent. Seventy-five of that number favored school uniforms.
The Meridian School Board took no action on the issue Monday night. Autry said principals could make the choice at each campus. Then the success or failure of the policy could be reviewed.
