Businesses Damaged by Fire

Fire damaged three Meridian businesses, one heavily, around 2:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at 1621 6th Street and found heavy smoke in a structure housing southern business supply, southern business machines and R.D. Direct Casket Sales.

"No indication of anything except an accident at this time," said Meridian Fire Chief Tim Miller. "No indication of forced entry, except by our firefighters getting inside the building. So everything appears to be just an accident."

The first two businesses suffered smoke damage. R.D. Casket Sales experienced smoke, water and fire damage. N

o one was hurt.
