A 39-year-old Mississippi man was sentenced to a month in jail and five months of house arrest for trying to bring a gun on an airplane in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in September 2003.

Richard Boyd of forest pleaded guilty Wednesday. A Grand Rapids federal judge gave Boyd credit for a month already spent behind bars. He also got five years probation and fined him $3100.

Boyd had a handgun in his carry-on luggage as he boarded a flight at the Gerald Ford International Airport.
