Gov. Bob Riley announced his is forming a task force to improve the way Health and Human Services spend their money.
Riley hopes the task force will find ways to provide better services and to help citizens who receive assistance to become more independent.
"The purpose of this task force is to recommend steps a state government should take to deliver services more effectively and efficiently to those in need," said Governor Riley last week.
"Our mission is to transform Alabama's government fundamentally so that its central focus is to serve the people of Alabama ethically and efficiently," said Drayton Nabers, the state's finance director.
