A new, multi-million dollar renovation to Naval Air Station Meridian was opened Tuesday. The renovation of barracks, the administration building and the Naval Technical Training Center has been three years in the making.
NAS officials say the renovations will greatly improve the quality of life for the sailors on base.
"A $20 million contract which included not only refurbishing the outside of the buildings and the common grounds but completely gutting the inside of the buildings, creating student capability for us and letting them live in relative luxury compared to the quality of the barracks that were here before this project began," said CMDR Rusty Bownds, CO of NTTC "A" School.
NAS officials say the project was completed within budget, and six months early.
