The first nine-week grading period has wrapped up for Meridian Public Schools.

Now teachers are preparing to meet with parents to talk about issues that surfaced during that time.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held next Monday at all Meridian campuses.

"At this time, you'll be able to see your child's report card. See where they're successful. See where they're having difficulties," said Parkview Elementary School principal Lisa Barfield. "And then get some strategies from your child's teacher that will help them do better and improve what they might need to improve on."

"One of the things that we'll be going at this parent-teacher conference will be passing out the MCT2 assessment results from the previous schools year," said Jonas Crenshaw, principal of Magnolia Middle School. "So it's important to know how their child performed on the state test, and then talk to teachers and try to get ways to help their children at home."

Educators said it helps children for their parents to stay in touch with their teachers and what's being studied throughout the year.

The conferences are Monday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
