The Mississippi House of Representatives honored National Guardsmen with a resolution.

Former Cong. Sonny Montgomery was recognized at the event for his commitment to active National Guard members and veterans.

Col. Ken Rigby, one of the National Guardsmen present at the ceremony, described the resolution as a "shot in the arm'' to troops across the state.

The ceremony recognized members of the House, Virginia Carlton of Columbia, and David Meyers, of McComb, who are currently serving in the Army Reserves.

All members of the House that are currently or previously served were recognized as well.

Maj. Gen. Harold Cross, Mississippi's adjutant general, helped recognize the soldiers who lost their lives fighting for freedom.
