The Meridian City Council is seeking legislative approval to provide incentives to subdivision developers.
At a special called meeting, the council passed a resolution asking for permission to provide infra-structure like water and sewer.
"We have been wanting to give an incentive and we had gotten an attorney general's opinion and they said that we could not do it," said Ward 3 councilwoman, Barbara Henson. "So this is a way to do it legally. This is something we want to do to encourage development of homes within the city limits."
State Rep. Eric Robinson has agreed to introduce the bill. Friday is the deadline for filing local-private legislation.
