City Gets Homeland Security Grant

The award was made by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the State of Mississippi.

The city of Meridian will receive $969,000 for four related initiatives,

$48,600 for the city of Meridian Homeland Security Department;

$69,900 for the Meridian Police Department and $500 for a Citizens Corps of volunteers.

$850,000 for the Regional Response Team

The nine-county Regional Response Team includes Lauderdale, Neshoba, Leake, Kemper, Newton, Clarke, Jasper, Scott and Smith.
