When Gov. Ronnie Musgrove called a special session with less than a week's notice, he caught many people off guard including legislators.
"I think we need more time and he needs to send out more information," said Rep. Charles Young of Meridian, a Democrat.
"Media seems to know more than I do," said GOP Sen. Videt Carmichael of Distrct 33.
The legislature will also vote on an economic incentive package for an expanding company in Laurel.
"We need to be careful and make sure we're getting back for what we put in," said Young.
Prison contracts will also be an issue. The state is renegotiating private prison contracts that could impact East Mississippi Correctional Facility at Lost Gap in Lauderdale County.
"That has a lot of interest for this area," said Carmichael.
This will mark the second special session this year, but there are still no plans to act on the critical issue of tort reform.
