Residents in northeast Lauderdale County say they're unhappy with the progress on a bridge on Antioch Road.

Jerry Gordon said residents were told repairs would take 6 to 8 weeks. Then, three and a half months later, he says the bridge still isn't finished and the work so far has not been well done.

"My question is why did they take the mud out of the ditch and put it on top of the bridge. I can't understand that. It's tax dollars wasted," said Gordon.

"The mud made it sink. No one could get through," said Perressa Ramsey. "They had friends and neighbors pulling each other out as we tried to travel across this bridge."

County engineer Neal Carson declined an on-camera interview, but said over the phone that the contractor must finish his part of the project first, before the county can do repaving. Carson said rainy weather has interfered with the contractor's timetable.

Charlie Johnson rd intercects Antioch Rd and it is a paved rd, but it has sections on it where the pavement has been removed from it in 2 places and it has been that way for over 2 yrs as well. Other rds like Jim Hill, Lauderdale Lizelia has been repaved under similar circumstances in a lot shorter timeframe. What's the difference? Where are you Mr. Wayman Newell, District # 2 Supervisor?

Well tell you Miss. has a law cant hold them responsible rule.. found out when the country screwed up a road didnt put signs up not filled in the road right.. landed up taking out lower control arm and other part.. called them up gave papers and all few days later the insurance company called said they are not responsible unless i can prove they revived a few calls lest 48 hrs the road before my mishap... yeah right.. as far as the bridge goes.. and roads... few times has this country hired people that did work that knew what they were doing as proof the roads fall apart.. but then the county in the last few years has been run as bad as the city was .. think its about time to toss the county elected out as well..

Rain does play a factor in construction...............howEVER....it has NOT been raining for 90 straight days (aprox 3 months)...........and oh yes, THATS been "documented" too.
