Instead of learning in the traditional classroom environment Friday, third graders at Newton County Elementary School experienced "Career on Wheels" day.
Professionals such as firefighters, police officers and the power company were there with their vehicles to teach students about their jobs.
"This gives the children a chance to see different occupations that are available to them than just the jobs they have been accustomed to or jobs they have seen their parents do or other family members do," said counselor Tracy Holliman, who coordinated the event.
Thankfully the rain held off or our own Charles Daniel would have been in trouble. He was also there to teach the children what it's like to be a meteorologist.
