Kornegay Dead at 79

We have sad news to report. Former city councilman and county supervisor, Dr. Hobert Kornegay, 79, died at six a.m. Wednesday morning.

In addition to a long career in dentistry, Dr. Kornegay served on the Meridian City Council for 12 years, was president of the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors, and had a long record of community service for the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and 4-H, among many others.

Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Kornegay's funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m., New Hope Baptist Church.
