BellSouth Looks Ahead

There may soon be more competition in Mississippi's long distance telephone market, and that could mean lower prices.

Monday the president of BellSouth Mississippi spoke to the Rotary Club. The company should know by Sept. 18 whether they could provide the service.

"Customers like to be able to go to one source for all of their telecommunications needs," said John McCulloch. "That's the thing that we hear most. And though you'll also have some pricing advantages, pricing plans that we can get into that will benefit the customers."

The FCC must approve the new service.
