Students have been tending vegetable gardens, and Wednesday they delivered the fruits of their labor to Love's Kitchen, which feeds the hungry in our area.
"We wanted to try to teach the children some of the character traits they're learning in the schools through growing this garden," said Cindy Burt. "They've also learned about the hunger that is in Meridian and the Lauderdale County area."
Students at Crestwood Elementary, Poplar Springs Elementary, Kate Griffin Junior High School and Marion Park Alternative School maintained gardens, made possible by a community pride grant from Chevron.
