The carcasses of deer are being dumped on public right-of-way, and some in the Lauderdale community say they're are outraged.

A number of carcasses were found across the street from Evangelist Christian Baptist Church in Lauderdale, upsetting some parishioners. The visual picture is bad, but the smell is even worse..

"It hurts the community. It hurts our heart that someone would do this to the community," said Lauderdale resident Donna Kay. "Hunters need to get a new attitude, and law enforcement and game wardens, you need to crack down on these people."

Newscenter 11 talked with Lauderdale County District 2 supervisor Wayman Newell about it.

"Hunting is a sport. Any time you kill something or harvest something like that, it's good. But to take the carcass, the head, the internal parts of it, and throw it somewhere else, you're not much of a sportsman in my opinion," Newell said.

County workers arrived to dispose of the carcasses just before Newscenter 11 left the location.

"I would encourage anybody that sees somebody dumping hides or carcasses or whatever on the side of the road, that's littering," said Newell. "Certainly try to get the tag number, call the sheriff, and have them prosecuted."
